In early 2013 The Sailing vessel “Parsifal” struck Carrot Shoal the rocky reef system located between Norman and Peter Islands in the British Virgin Islands.
Commercial Dive Services Limited was contracted along with another local salvage company, to recover the lead shot that had spilled from the keel of the yacht. The keel was torn open on impact and dumped around 30 tons of lead over the top of the reef and rocks, this is a prime dive site for tourists and the environmental impact was significant. Tasked with recovery we designed and built small dredge systems to suck up the 30 tons of lead pellets. Over several months on a daily basis the lead beads were extracted.
